2017 is finally here! We hope you all are enjoying your break and getting ready for the upcoming spring semester. We’ll be busy planning all sorts of fun events for you throughout the spring!

Special Highlight

Do you have any questions about something in your apartment? For questions on utility overages, please call Conservice at (866) 254-4577. With the colder temperatures, remember to be energy conscious as you begin using your heater more. When adjusting your thermostat, keep your fan in the auto position; this will help reduce your utilities. You can push the hold button on your thermostat to keep the temperature constant. Make sure to close and lock all windows before leaving your apartment if you have had them open. If something is broken, please feel free to contact us. Maintenance requests can be submitted online through your resident portal at https://domainatcolumbia.com/residents. Please provide as much detail as possible to assist our maintenance techs in completing your work order as quickly as possible.

Reminders

Locked out of your apartment, neighbors being loud, or have an emergency? Please call Signal 88 for emergencies only! Just call (573) 214-2323, follow the prompt, and click for the courtesy officer.

With the colder weather here, you may be looking for some indoor fun. Feel free to use our 24-hour clubhouse — check out our game room, golf simulator, or 24-hour movie theater!

Don’t dread the move — we still have spaces available for the 2017–18 year! Call the office today to find out current rates and information about renewing your lease for next year.

Be sure to check your calendars for the events planned for this month! If you have any ideas for events you might like, please let your Community Assistant know.

Turning Resolutions into Reality

Did you know that only 8% of people are successful in keeping their New Year’s resolutions? While that may sound discouraging, there are some very practical ways to beat the odds and see success this year! Whether you make New Year’s resolutions or are one of the 38% of Americans who absolutely never makes them, anyone will benefit from a commitment to continuous improvement. Here are some tips for a successful 2017 — and beyond:

Define your “why”: Whether your goal is to improve your GPA or get in better shape, create a “why” statement for any goal you have. Achieving goals can be challenging, so make sure you stay motivated by keeping the purpose in mind!

Write it down: According to numerous studies, the simple act of writing down your goals increases your likelihood of success significantly. When you write down your goals, make them specific and measurable, and put your goals somewhere you will see them.

Tell a friend: Another factor shown to increase your likelihood of success is telling a friend about your goals. You increase success even more when you share progress reports with them.

Take action: Always ask the simple and powerful question, “Is what I am doing getting me closer to where I want to be?” If the answer is yes, keep going! If no, try to make progress by taking even a small step in the right direction.

Enjoy the journey: Remember that much of the benefit of intentional improvement comes in the process, so take time to reflect, assess, and enjoy the journey!
